Ignorance

Together with Andrea Klonschinski, I organised and edited a broad thematic series on ignorance on praefaktisch. The series eventually comprised 24 blog posts and brought together contributions on conceptual and epistemological questions, normative issues, and a wide range of social and practical applications. In a related paper with Hans Rott, I worked on the concept of ignorance in the context of debates about the “right not to know”.

Thematic series “Nichtwissen” (with Andrea Klonschinski, 2019–2022). The series was deliberately broad and brought together 24 blog posts on ignorance from epistemology and philosophy of science as well as from ethics, political philosophy and applied contexts.

“Was ist Nichtwissen?” (with Hans Rott, 2019). The paper was written in the context of debates about a possible “right not to know”, especially in medicine and genetics. Our contribution focuses on the conceptual question of what ignorance is and how different forms of not knowing should be distinguished before normative questions about such a right can be addressed.
